A place to write.
A way to show your work.

MATCHA is a word processor and research environment designed to support human authorship. It brings reading, notes, references, and writing into one workspace, while recording the process behind a finished document.

I created MATCHA to make good writing practices easier and give educators a practical way to assess students’ own work in the age of AI. Features include direct citation insertion, work-history replay, and certified documents.

PhilAI

AI for philosophy

AI research & development

Helping machines make sense
of philosophical ideas.

My AI work explores ways to improve the discovery and organization of philosophical research. This includes language models and embeddings trained on philosophical texts, with applications to semantic search and identifying related ideas.

The aim is to build better research tools for philosophy, including future iterations of PhilPapers.

Co-founder · Executive director & tech lead

A shared home for
philosophical research.

David Chalmers and I launched PhilPapers in 2009. It is a comprehensive index and bibliography of philosophy, organized by topic and maintained with the help of the philosophical community.

As executive director and tech lead of the PhilPapers Foundation, I continue to maintain and develop the service. PhilPapers helps researchers find literature across journals, books, and open-access archives, supported by thousands of subject bibliographies.
